The Yard Sale Queen and her Grandson!

Image
Once Upon a Time, there was a 5 1/2 month old little boy named,Alan, and he was born into a Yard Saleing...Thrift Store Seeking....Bargain Hunting.....Dumpster Diving Family!!! His mother, Anna Brooke was the Goodwill Queen! She could find the BEST DEALS ever at any Goodwill store there was! His Granny Deb(me), and his 2 great-aunts, Kappy and Scrappy, had been born to the Yard Sale EMPRESS....Katy B!!!! The EMPRESS learned along time ago while raising 4 children and managing her husbands law offices how to bargain shop.....much to her husband's chagrin who asked the EMPRESS Katy one day....I've toiled and worked years in this law office to make good money and you wear Second Hand Clothes...why? And, the EMPRESS, being the smart and wily shopper that she is told him....why do you think we still have money....because she said...I KNOW HOW TO LOOK FOR A BARGAIN!!!! SO, this weekend after moving with his Mom and Dad to Waycross, Georgia, Alan, helped his Mom and his Granny Deb

Greetings Everyone this Wonderful Monday Morning, I had a wonderful weekend....celebrated Mother's Day with my Mama, and my Daddy's 82nd birthday.....just a wonderful time and feeling so blessed to still have them both: So, I had been seeing all over Pinterest, blogs, Facebook, the recipe for Ice Cream Bread......2 of my favorite things.....Ice Cream and Bread!!!!  So, I went to Wal-Mart and got a quart of the store brand chocolate ice cream....I did not want to splurge on a Ben& Jerry's brand without trying recipe first: store brand chocolate ice cream Then I took 2 cups soften ice cream.....and you can add a little more if you would like.....place this in a big mixing bowl....add to that 1 and 1/2 cup of self rising flour. Stir until all flour is mixed well with ice cream.....will be very thick! Then pour into a greased-floured loaf pan and place into a preheated 350 degree oven.......cook about 40 minutes depending on your oven, or until the center is lik

Happy Mother's Day everyone, I wanted to take the time to say how wonderful it is being a Mother....even now at "almost 57"....shhhh....don't tell anyone.....I love being a Mother. My children are all grown, but even now when they come home, I can always count on a hug, a laugh, and even a ...."Mom can you scratch my back"....lol And my Mother is such an awesome Mom, how she has stood by all 4 of us children, and loved us unconditionally and now in her later years....taking care  of my Daddy with such love and patience....well, I can't say enough about us.....but, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite pictures of my Mom.....one where she let her guard down, and was having a great time.... I hope each and everyone of you have a great and wonderful day.... Blessings, Deborah

Everyone Loves Watermelon....Right?

Good Monday Evening Everyone, Wow, can you believe that it is already the 6th of May??? I can't.....it seems like it was just yesterday that I  moved into my new home in February! But, I'm not complaining...especially after all the rain we got last week, the Sun was out today....there was a nice breeze blowing....and I had breakfast with my 2 daughters this morning, and my 4 1/2 month old grandson! It was wonderful, and I knew Summer is on it's way! When I was growing up, one of my favorite times of the Summer was when you could see all the watermelons for sale, and my Daddy loved him some watermelon! He would go to the local little farmer's stand where all his buddies whom were farmers were selling fresh local produce. He would load up the car with watermelons and come home. We would ice them down in a cooler that morning and then he would make us go outside to play! So, the water hoses were brought out and slung over a tree branch.....water sprinklers were set

What I've Been Working On....Painting, Painting, and more Painting!

Hey Everyone, I hope that this week so far has Blessed you with Peace, Love, and Joy so far....as for me....well, yes, I have had Peace, Love, and lot's of painting. Last year when I started my blog and really delved into my arts and crafts path.....I made TON'S of cute, whimsical and tropical wooden signs! I loved doing it....I was painting and making signs all the time....and I painted on almost anything! If it was a canvas...it got painted. If it was a piece of wood....it got painted. An old wooden window....painted.  I scoured the Internet....poems books....gift store....all to find cute sayings I could paint....I even penned some sayings of my own.....So, as I live, oh about, 60 miles from St. Simons Island, Ga., where I use to live.....I love making beachy, tropical signs....full of bright colors.....and that is what I've been working on again.... But, since I'm not ready to show the new ones, I thought I might share some of my faves from last year's b
