DIY Cuff Bracelets from Old Belts!
Hi Ya'll,
Okay, we, my wonderful sister Katherine and her husband Charles have been helping move alot of heavy stuff today, and boy are we pooped! But, there have been alot of laughs...we always laugh when we are together.....and it made the moving process easier on me.
So, having almost everything packed and only a little left to do tonight, I thought I would post one more handcrafted item that I completed this week. I have been seeing for weeks all these gorgeous leather cuffs bracelets everywhere. There are fancy lacy cuffs.....leather cuffs with studs....beautiful cowgirl blingy cuffs, and well, every kind of cuff you could want. Also, since I've owned several businesses and have had my wholesale tax id for years, I knew I could order some....but, I thought, heck I can make some.
You know when you pack or move you find things you forgot you had or break down and get rid of things you haven't used for awhile and that is what I did. I found a couple of old belts that I haven't used in forever, and thought...wow, these would make great cuff bracelets....so, I snipped and cut, and glued and added velcro...and voila ...I had two cute new bracelets....
So, before I moved and knowing I will be without internet for about a week, I wanted to share these with you. I hope it won't be long and I will be back.
Blessings,
Deborah

I can't believe you had time to craft while moving! I love the cuffs, especially the turquoise one. Did you glue or sew the beads on? I'm visiting from I Heart Naptime.
ReplyDeleteI would love it if you would link this to my new linky party, "What I Accomplished Wednesdays."

Have a great weekend!

Yes, I did glue them, but used high temp glue gun and glue.....and I pulled on them and they seem secure.
DeleteThese are beautiful! I can't believe you made them from a belt!!! I was at a craft show yesterday and a lady had a whole booth of leather cuffs- I loved them. Couldn't buy one, though, because they were $45-$55 for one! Now, thanks to your inspiration, I can make myself one:)
ReplyDeleteI sooooo agree Laura....I have been seeing these cuffs for awhile...and even with my wholesale lisense I just still couldn't justify the price. These were old belt I hadn't used for awhile...and have already gone to our new Goodwill store and bought some more so as soon as I get settled I can make some more. I also used velcro for the closure because I have horrible fibro and sometimes my hands do not work right...lol....and also, I figured that may be a problem for other ladies also... Deb
DeleteThe bracelets are beautiful! Good luck with the move...I HATE moving! I told the hubby that if we ever need to move again in the future I am burning the house down and buying all new stuff at the new house. The thought of that cost will make him think twice about moving in the future, Ha ha ha!

The vintage turquoise is beautiful. It looks like something my cousin Leanne would wear!

great idea of using velcro from the usability point of view but a lot of people do tend to associate velcro closure with a item not being well made
ReplyDeleteDivya, I have horrible arthritis in my hands along with Fibromyalgia which makes it hard for me to do a regular hook clasp...and I know other women also that have that problem....so for me it is easier to do the velcro....but, thanks!
