It Was Just a Little Stick!

As I was walking Odawg the other morning, I noticed this little twig laying in the grass. I could tell it was scared and wanted me to take it home. LOL....no, not really, but, I thought it sounded good!

I did find this little twig laying in the grass and I picked it up. I have seen on several sites that I visit, artists painting on sticks. They are just beautiful! I have made my own walking sticks before, but, have never painted on sticks, so, I thought I would take it home and give it a try.  I got my sharp little knife out and whittled off the bark and using a light-weight sanding paper I had, sanded it down to a smooth finish. 

I then gave my hand at painting designs on it, and I have to say it was harder than I thought it would be, as being so tiny and trying to hold on to it. I then took wire that I use to string necklaces with and attached different colors of turquoise and attached it to the string. After finishing I tied a piece of leather I had and attached to both ends, and I just love it:








 


I think it turned out lovely and I'm very pleased with it. Enjoy! Blessings, Deborah

Good Sunday Evening Everyone, Well, if you have ever visited my Pinterest boards, you know that I love Bohemian ANYTHING! I took a zip tie and made a circle to measure the size of my wrist, but then just added a "smidgen"and then cut off the end of the zip tie and taped the circle together. Everyone Loves Watermelon....Right?

Good Monday Evening Everyone, Wow, can you believe that it is already the 6th of May??? I can't.....it seems like it was just yesterday that I  moved into my new home in February! But, I'm not complaining...especially after all the rain we got last week, the Sun was out today....there was a nice breeze blowing....and I had breakfast with my 2 daughters this morning, and my 4 1/2 month old grandson! It was wonderful, and I knew Summer is on it's way! When I was growing up, one of my favorite times of the Summer was when you could see all the watermelons for sale, and my Daddy loved him some watermelon! He would go to the local little farmer's stand where all his buddies whom were farmers were selling fresh local produce. He would load up the car with watermelons and come home. We would ice them down in a cooler that morning and then he would make us go outside to play! So, the water hoses were brought out and slung over a tree branch.....water sprinklers were set

The Lady with Blue Eyes...New Folk Art Painting

Good Friday Evening Everyone, Wow, it has been an absolutely beautiful day down here in rural South Georgia in my hometown of Waycross. The Sun has been shinning most of the day.....a soft, gentle breeze has been whispering through the pines.....just an all around great day..... and what better time for me to premiere my newest, and I think my best, folk art painting. I had this idea in my head for along time....I wanted her to be a little whimsy.....slightly "hippieish".... magical....secretive.....and special. I used both acrylic and oil painting....I had an old frame in my craft closet....and decided to glue the frame to the mat.
