It's a Southern Mermaid, Ya'll!

Well, Howdy Do on this Fine Friday Night!

 Wow, I feel like I have been gone forever! I got back from my wonderful vacation in Sandestin, Florida all rejuvenated from seeing awesome fun, tropical arts and crafts, and went to work on painting one of my FAV subjects....Mermaids! Yes, ya'll know I just love those elusive "ladies of the ocean". Then, I finished one painting and BAM, as Emril says, the laptop crashed and burned again.

 Well, it, the laptop, was really beginning to make me mad! Can an inanimate object make you mad? Well, this darn laptop did.....so, off it went to my brother in law....Oh, Great Computer Guy, that he is....and he worked and worked and worked....and well, for some reason, it had finally reached to point of no return and had to be sent off the "laptop heaven or hell", which ever one wanted it....lol. AND, then a marvelous thing happened....my sweet, precious Mom called me yesterday and told me she had bought me a new one....and as we say down here in rural Southern Georgia...."Bless her Heart".....all, I can say, is that for the past 58 years this past Sunday, I've been more than Blessed with her as my Mom.....love you Mom!

 So, after exploring all day on this new fangled thingy, I just had to share with you my newest mermaid creation. When I had the idea to paint her, I envisioned her as an older, white haired mermaid, and well, when my sister pointed out that she "kinda looked like Ms. Paula Deen", well, I was tickled, because she does and I just love Paula and I love my new mermaid.....and the words on the painting, well, those are me.....and, well, I hope you enjoy her:






Isn't she great? I just love her, and one of my neighbors has already made an offer for her, but, I think I might have to hold on to her for awhile.....so, from my paint brushes to your computer, "ya'll have a great weekend"!

    Deborah she is adorable and yes she does look like Paula Deen! Love the words also. Oh Mom's are the best aren't they! Your paintings make me smile!

Good Sunday Evening Everyone, Well, if you have ever visited my Pinterest boards, you know that I love Bohemian ANYTHING! The colors.....the clothes.....the furniture.....I'm an "ole hippie", what do you expect! I have seen so many things online, from clothes to jewelry, that have touched my bohemian soul, but, of course, for the most part, I can not afford to buy what I like. So, I resort to learning how to make it instead, and recently, I had seen these zip tie bracelets and just didn't think they would turn out like the pictures, but they did! Easy Peazy! You will need the large zip ties, your jewelry making tools, strips of cloth, jewelry wire and scotch tape. Yes, scotch tape! I took a zip tie and made a circle to measure the size of my wrist, but then just added a "smidgen"and then cut off the end of the zip tie and taped the circle together. Everyone Loves Watermelon....Right?

Good Monday Evening Everyone, Wow, can you believe that it is already the 6th of May??? I can't.....it seems like it was just yesterday that I  moved into my new home in February! But, I'm not complaining...especially after all the rain we got last week, the Sun was out today....there was a nice breeze blowing....and I had breakfast with my 2 daughters this morning, and my 4 1/2 month old grandson! It was wonderful, and I knew Summer is on it's way! When I was growing up, one of my favorite times of the Summer was when you could see all the watermelons for sale, and my Daddy loved him some watermelon! He would go to the local little farmer's stand where all his buddies whom were farmers were selling fresh local produce. He would load up the car with watermelons and come home. We would ice them down in a cooler that morning and then he would make us go outside to play! So, the water hoses were brought out and slung over a tree branch.....water sprinklers were set

The Lady with Blue Eyes...New Folk Art Painting

Good Friday Evening Everyone, Wow, it has been an absolutely beautiful day down here in rural South Georgia in my hometown of Waycross. The Sun has been shinning most of the day.....a soft, gentle breeze has been whispering through the pines.....just an all around great day..... and what better time for me to premiere my newest, and I think my best, folk art painting. I had this idea in my head for along time....I wanted her to be a little whimsy.....slightly "hippieish".... magical....secretive.....and special. I used both acrylic and oil painting....I had an old frame in my craft closet....and decided to glue the frame to the mat.
