The Yard Sale Queen and her Grandson!

Once Upon a Time, there was a 5 1/2 month old little boy named,Alan, and he was born into a Yard Saleing...Thrift Store Seeking....Bargain Hunting.....Dumpster Diving Family!!! His mother, Anna Brooke was the Goodwill Queen! She could find the BEST DEALS ever at any Goodwill store there was! His Granny Deb(me), and his 2 great-aunts, Kappy and Scrappy, had been born to the Yard Sale EMPRESS....Katy B!!!! The EMPRESS learned along time ago while raising 4 children and managing her husbands law offices how to bargain shop.....much to her husband's chagrin who asked the EMPRESS Katy one day....I've toiled and worked years in this law office to make good money and you wear Second Hand Clothes...why? And, the EMPRESS, being the smart and wily shopper that she is told him....why do you think we still have money....because she said...I KNOW HOW TO LOOK FOR A BARGAIN!!!!

SO, this weekend after moving with his Mom and Dad to Waycross, Georgia, Alan, helped his Mom and his Granny Deb hold a yard sale....his 1st of many that he would attend....so, when his belly was full his Dad dressed him in his Best yard sale attire and donned his Best South Georgia Yard Sale hat and his Best smile, he came out side....
My very 1st yard sale!!!
Then Granny Deb put his hat on for Good Luck!

Alan had a great time at his 1st Yard Sale and looks forward to many more to come!!!!

Blessings, From Granny Deb!

Ice Cream Bread.....Oh My!!!!

Greetings Everyone this Wonderful Monday Morning,

I had a wonderful weekend....celebrated Mother's Day with my Mama, and my Daddy's 82nd birthday.....just a wonderful time and feeling so blessed to still have them both:

So, I had been seeing all over Pinterest, blogs, Facebook, the recipe for Ice Cream Bread......2 of my favorite things.....Ice Cream and Bread!!!!  So, I went to Wal-Mart and got a quart of the store brand chocolate ice cream....I did not want to splurge on a Ben& Jerry's brand without trying recipe first:
store brand chocolate ice cream

Then I took 2 cups soften ice cream.....and you can add a little more if you would like.....place this in a big mixing bowl....add to that 1 and 1/2 cup of self rising flour. Stir until all flour is mixed well with ice cream.....will be very thick! Then pour into a greased-floured loaf pan and place into a preheated 350 degree oven.......cook about 40 minutes depending on your oven, or until the center is like when you stick a tooth pic in a cake.

Let cool.....and slice!!!!! OMG......chocolate bread!!!! The flavors are endless!!!! Now, I have to say, that right in the middle of cooking this, I had a neighbor knock on my door with a problem....so, I turned my oven down lower and stepped outside. My loaf didn't rise as much as it should have, but it tasted wonderful!

what it looks like when flour is mixed with ice cream
The first slice was so good!

You can tell it didn't rise enough

So, I can't wait to try another flavor......but, don't be scared.....it was so easy!!!!

Have a great week and Blessings to you and yours,

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's

Happy Mother's Day everyone,

I wanted to take the time to say how wonderful it is being a Mother....even now at "almost 57"....shhhh....don't tell anyone.....I love being a Mother. My children are all grown, but even now when they come home, I can always count on a hug, a laugh, and even a ...."Mom can you scratch my back"....lol

And my Mother is such an awesome Mom, how she has stood by all 4 of us children, and loved us unconditionally and now in her later years....taking care  of my Daddy with such love and patience....well, I can't say enough about us.....but, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite pictures of my Mom.....one where she let her guard down, and was having a great time....

I hope each and everyone of you have a great and wonderful day....

Everyone Loves Watermelon....Right?

Good Monday Evening Everyone,

Wow, can you believe that it is already the 6th of May??? I can't.....it seems like it was just yesterday that I  moved into my new home in February! But, I'm not complaining...especially after all the rain we got last week, the Sun was out today....there was a nice breeze blowing....and I had breakfast with my 2 daughters this morning, and my 4 1/2 month old grandson! It was wonderful, and I knew Summer is on it's way!

When I was growing up, one of my favorite times of the Summer was when you could see all the watermelons for sale, and my Daddy loved him some watermelon! He would go to the local little farmer's stand where all his buddies whom were farmers were selling fresh local produce. He would load up the car with watermelons and come home. We would ice them down in a cooler that morning and then he would make us go outside to play! So, the water hoses were brought out and slung over a tree branch.....water sprinklers were set  up and all faucets turned on full blast!

And, we played,  and hooped and hollered like we were "the rich kids with a swimming pool" in their back yards....lol....and then at lunch time Mom would call us in and a sandwich would  be waiting....and we ate those sandwich's so fast cause we knew Daddy was going to soon "split open the melons"......he would get his knife and on the picnic table slice open those wonderful, red, ice cold melons and we would dig in.....there's nothing like it.....

So, thinking of that this past weekend and after looking at prices of the shoes I wanted on the Internet....I made me a pair of Watermelon Shoes....took a $5.99 pair of plain white tennis shoes from Wal-Mart and started painting....I LOVE THEM and I hope you do also.
$5.99 plain

Don't look how pale my legs are...lol

I just love them!
I wore them this afternoon as I went to town to run some errands, and everybody wanted to know where I got them....and I said...ME.....lol

I know that Daddy will get a big kick out of them when he sees them....

What I've Been Working On....Painting, Painting, and more Painting!

Hey Everyone,

I hope that this week so far has Blessed you with Peace, Love, and Joy so far....as for me....well, yes, I have had Peace, Love, and lot's of painting.

Last year when I started my blog and really delved into my arts and crafts path.....I made TON'S of cute, whimsical and tropical wooden signs! I loved doing it....I was painting and making signs all the time....and I painted on almost anything! If it was a canvas...it got painted. If it was a piece of wood....it got painted. An old wooden window....painted.

I scoured the Internet....poems books....gift store....all to find cute sayings I could paint....I even penned some sayings of my own.....So, as I live, oh about, 60 miles from St. Simons Island, Ga., where I use to live.....I love making beachy, tropical signs....full of bright colors.....and that is what I've been working on again....

But, since I'm not ready to show the new ones, I thought I might share some of my faves from last year's batch:
Directional Sign outside my old house

Becca, my sister

I love this one....I've done several more of this version

Queen of the Mermaids

Mermaid Sisters

Funny Signs just for Women

The Diva Den

More Funny Signs

So, hopefully you got a laugh out of some of those.....and I hope to post some of the news one over the weekend.....
