Telling It Your Way!

I've always been a storyteller and I learned from the best, my Daddy! Daddy could spin a story into a tall tale and make you believe it. We grew up always asking Daddy to tell us stories.....whether they were the wondrous stories of his childhood growing up on a farm in rural southern Georgia.....or stories of his cases he tried in the courtroom.....or him retelling stories from our many family vacations! And, we loved them, and that tradition is something that us four children have carried with us each day of our lives. I love nothing more than being with my friends or family and all of us sitting around sharing memories and making new ones for the stories to continue.
I never thought I would meet anyone that loved to "spin a yarn", or talk and laugh til you can't laugh anymore.....or who had more stories to tell than me, than my precious neighbor and friend, Ms. Flo. As you know, if you follow my blog, Ms. Flo celebrated her 80th birthday in October and I just love her! We sit everyday on the porch and drink our coffee and talk and gossip and laugh, and sometimes cry! She is such a hoot! Her stories of what all she has witnessed in her 80 years.......7 children....and I can't count the grandchildren and greats! She marched in the civil rights movement and worked full time....well, I could go on and on.
So, this week, a saying came into my head and I knew she was my inspiration for the words, so I set out to painted her in her younger years.

The quote..."The beauty of story telling is to do it your way", again I used mixed media of clippings from magazine, and is something I just thought of and knew it was about my friend! I hope you enjoy it, as I so enjoy creating this paintings and bringing them to life!

Blessings,
Deborah

    1. Robin, back in 2008, I fell and injured myself badly. Lots of metal in my left leg...herniated disc....etc. I became disabled, and could not work anymore, but, knee even with disability income, I had to make extra. So, one day while online, wishing that I could order something and didn't have the money, I thought.....I will teach myself. So, I taught myself how to make jewelry and then I taught myself how to paint....and that is how I got started!
